Every (real) webdev writes html. But that doesn't mean it's a programming language.
-
@Alice in my opinion, you can't call yourself a webdev if you don't know html. But that's just my two cents.
-
@Alice I mean, it's fine to use preprocessors and frameworks and stuff but you should also know html in order to actually know what you're doing.
-
@Alice That's kind of like calling yourself a construction worker without knowing how to use a hammer.
-
A conventional "programming language" by definition is something that allows you to make processes.
Html is just a markup. Calling it a programming language is almost similar to calling JSON a programming language.
This does not mean markup langs like html or tex are inferior. Writing good html and css, does include complexities like aria specs and keyframes and takes a lot of skill. But that doesn't mean we can categorise it under the classical definition of a programming language, just to gain an ego boost.
Html is a markup language and not a programming language, period. -
@Alice I've met people like that too and front end developers who don't know html or css are usually shitty devs who call themselves devs after learning WordPress. My 2 cents
I write html code still !!!
