People are being too dramatic. It's sad and annoying.

@Stuxnet People are being edgy :v

VS Code was created by developers that actually care, while Microsoft bought GitHub just for the money.

Nah, I'm a netbeans/atom user and @Stuxnet, some people have actual arguments about this.

@linuxxx Like 2 people. Most are being dramatic about this because it's trendy. And a lot are just illogical fears that are unreasonable.

@linuxxx Concerns are natural. But people are acting like it's the literal end of the world. Like calm down.

We've got alternatives. Just move onto and altnero without repeatedly whining about it.

I'm fixing to create a gitlab and bitbucket account to broaden my horizons. But it's not the end of the world.

@Stuxnet Which fears are illogical in your opinion?

Multiple people can have multiple reasons as for why this is okay, good, bad or very bad. That's their right and just because you don't agree doesn't mean those reasons aren't valid :)

@linuxxx People acting like Microsoft is going to steal all their code. Yes, I've seen that said.

No Joe. Your mediocre to decent project isn't worth being stolen in the first place. Brutal but honest.

There's this picture as well. Obviously some are sarcasm, but it sums what people would say.

I get people have the right to be concerned. If I had a lot invested on GitHub, I'd probably be more concerned too. But literally every other post on here being peot crying about it is 100% unnecessary. Just move your code over and get on with your life.

Still think the vast majority of people are just acting like this because it's trendy. If people were truly so concerned with their privacy, they'd be using something more like GitLab or bitbucket (or even self hosting) like you have been this whole time. 🤷

@linuxxx some people are reasonable but some of them are just being a pure baby. Most of the people just have bare hate to Microsoft backed by no arguments and they are just redirecting that to this news GitHub was somewhat in loss, so Microsoft practically is investing in GitHub to provide support as well.
Microsoft can cash out so much from GitHub if they play this right.
They wouldn't invest so much just to ruin GitHub.

@Stuxnet @py2js I quit github years ago for reasons which have nothing to do with privacy (mostly).

All I'm saying is that lots of people might have entirely different arguments about why they don't like this than you might think :)

    But thanks!
