If GitHub gets bought by Microsoft, you always have BitBucket, with free private repos

I love BitBucket. I also love Jira.

    And I'm proud of it.

So you're saying Microsoft would want to remove the possibility for free private repos?

I mean, why? They have "Visual Studio Team Services" which offer free git services. So it's not like they hate that idea entirely.

@xalys Jira sucks, although to be fair I haven't found any ALM tool I really like yet. VSTS blows Jira out if the water in my opinion though.

@TheWorkplaceRag BitBucket's fine, but with VSTS you get a free tier of Release Management, which you can build a full CI/CD pipeline with.

Git's git to me though, it's all the same commands with a different remote URL.

Gitlab would be the natural heir

    GitLab or Gitea/Gogs

I prefer to use floppy disks than use Bitbucket.

VSTS offers FREE unlimited private repos for up to 5 users so what makes you think Microsoft would end GitHub free public repos? Your argument makes no sense at all.

@NGPixel haha easy! He probably should have included #Hypothesis

    Bitbucket: closed source company.

    Gitlab: hosted on azure

GitHub: open source, but owned by ms.

Self hosted: pro: you own it, con: you OWN it and any problems

    Pick your poison.
