    TIL that the hashtag(U+0023) is because the sign for musical sharp (U+266F) is availible on most keyboards. They originaly did want the actual sharp sign

    @hubiruchi pound symbol (from weight measurements and telephones), hash or hash mark (from hacker culture), octothorpe (from linguistic prescriptivism), or tic-tac-toe (from people who don't care anymore).

    In hebrew it is called סולמית from the word סולם(ladder) and the addition of ית which makes a word represent something smaller
