GitHub desktop is simple and intuitive

VsCode’s built in git sidebar is great for the basic workflow of committing, pushing and diffing unpushed commits.

But for history, previewing stashes, switching branches etc I recommend gitKraken.

The commandline is my choice for most operations but it’s not effectivs when it comes to something like previewing files in stashes.

    Tried GitKraken. Meh

    Tried GitHub Desktop. 👎

    Tried SourceTree. Nope.

All these free solutions are not good enough. If free is your criteria then suck it up and use a terminal (which is always a good idea and a needed skill)

But, if you have some coins to pay for a good git GUI then the best option by far is Tower.

Yes, I can already hear it now...

“But the other solutions are free and are good enough”

If your broke then I mean no offence. If your a professional developer who is unwilling to pay for good tools then I don’t know what to say to you.

A carpenter could hammer nails with the back of his work boots but he doesn’t, he buys a good hammer because he is a professional. End of rant
