So the company behind gitkraken released their version of trello and all that I am interested in from all the features they show off, is really just how they made their vscode plugin to open up a browser like sidepanel, since all the requests for that to be possible, have been halted by the vscode team because there was issues or they declined it

Also what do you guys think of it? is it going to replace trello for you?

    I don't know about gitkraken :(

    @thesagya it's the best gui client imho, the only problem is that you can't detach the head in it

    My project manager wouldn't change, so, i do not think it'll replace trello for me.

    For Github Projects it really is better, but else it‘s still just a KanBan Board. I guess the biggest problem at the begin will be that there are no integrations.

    I have used Trello like years ago and I liked it.

    Yesterday I tried Trello from Bitbucket repo and compared with Project from Github. There is no integration with issues like Github has done. But you can still configure Trello to integrate with Bitbucket/Github repo issues using third party services if you want to.

    So my point is, I don't understand why would GitKraken decided to create own board. I won't use it and I don't think many people will use it.

    Just MHO.

    Nice find! thank you!

    If they add Trello integration on glo, I'll probably sync it with all my "dev-related" boards.

    Nevertheless, I can't replace trello with glo.

    Yes it will replace Trello for me.

    It wont replace trello, for now

    New devs will prefer it to trello. The rest will catch up slowly. I wish i could use it alongside trello so i don't have to bother my team.

    Didn't atlassian acquire Trello? And even so, there's still no jira/confluence integration. Seems like without a major update, Trello is ripe for replacement.

    @FilipeRamalho

    indeed the github integration is really interesting, but what other integrations did you mean?

    @CurseMeSlowly

    just out of interest, what are the mentioned third party services to connect trello to issues?

    gitkraken tried to target directly managers and programmers with more keyboard navigation, direct integrations in the devtools like vscode and gitkraken itself etc. but trello kind of covers both already (just groceries and also project managment and it's not really an issue just having a tab open with trello

    would be nice to have it in vscode in a tab too though), except for less hotkeys navigation afaik, also the direct issues integration is nice, though for that you most likely need a github team or business account, to make actual use of it, as it doesn't seem to support selfhosted gitlab (yet?)

    @netikras

    I got notified by mail, either because through gitkraken or because back then I signed up for a newsletter, so not really a find, but you're welcome :)

    @masterlei

    yeah, that import feature would definitely bring them a lot of people changing I think, if they actually build it out more

    @rectango

    yeah some synced trello integration would be interesting, but I am sure trello would cut that off quickly

    @bahua

    yes they did and as far as I could see they didn't quite integrate trello into anything since they acquired it, they just added it to their portfolio, so maybe if glo does grow, they would start adding features

    @JoshBent With Trello you can also connect with Zapier, but Glo I think only Github.

    To be fair, Trello has a good API, so you can hook it to anything.

    I assume glo probably does too.

    @FilipeRamalho @CurseMeSlowly doh, missed the most obvious, thanks 😅

    @JoshBent the limitation on detached head is intentional because of how easy it is to screw up. Just make a branch at the commit you need to check out, then delete the branch when you're done.

    @commandlion yeah, thats the workaround, but I feel its just faster to e.g. restore just one file

    Probably no, because I have Trello on my smartphone too
