the problem is that people want to be on social media networks that cool people are on, and cool people dont wanna be where no one cool is
-
@calmyourtities could be useful for people who are more concerned about privacy, to people who wanna share different parts of their life to selected groups
-
@calmyourtities I'd say there are plenty of people who'd like a platform not crowded with all their relatives and long forgotten high school friends posting updates of every meal they ever have xD

Seanld387y@ausername I think what he means is that, instead of just being able to follow someone with no effort, you have to share a secret code to be able to be "friends" or "follow" them.
Not so much a "programming" code-sharing platform. -
Seanld387ySounds like a unique idea. What languages are you planning on using?
I'm coherent in Python, TypeScript, JS/HTML/CSS, C++, and ARM Assembly. Though, I'm afraid the last two aren't going to be of much benefit. -
@Seanld I was thinking of having a Python(Django) Backend, and mabye a reactjs web app. I'm quite comfortable with Django, but I've never used react, so thought this would we a good chance to learn that too, although I'm ok with using anything else if it's better for the job

Is the code strictly for connecting people, or as some layer of encryption as well?
-
@arjaycodes
the original idea actually involved just connecting people, creating a channel when both parties wish to have one. Once this "channel" is established I guess we could have any sort of communication over it, chat/voice/files/email/etc. encrypted or unencrypted.
The idea is that the user gets to easily create and maintain these "end points" or pseudo-phone-numbers that others (people or businesses) can use to contact them. Some misusing it/spamming? Delete the end-point and get a new one. -
yipcma76yon whatsapp your phone number is kinda like that code, plus the receiver end can always block/mark spam. also, if some sort of authentication is needed on both sides, they'd be communicating already so how did they get in touch in the first place? and why would they need another channel?
