read abt design patterns, uml, do katas, and practice. by the way, I am an electronics engineer working as wireless software engineer

Non-Android dev here, but is it not a big leap from zero to app dev? Besides the languages and the tools, there's also the UI/UX concepts, app architecture and design patterns.

By all means, start learning but get some advice on the best way there from here. It seems like a monolithic goal to begin with.
