I guess whenever you install java, somewhere it gets uninstalled to keep this constant.

I really don’t understand the hate for Java. I have used it for decades and it just keeps getting better. There is no web platform more mature, well developed, and more widely used than Java EE.
Now PHP on the other hand, that is a piece of shit, always has been and always will be.

Wozza638787y@deusprogrammer by web platform do you mean plugins? If so, how can you recommend that to anyone. Plugins are dying and insecure. Should not be usable on modern browsers!
-
py2js33777y@deusprogrammer yes no hate for java but there is nothing wrong with saying PHP is shit. Seriously bloody hypocrite
-
@Wozza365 no. Web apps, web services. JavaEE has nothing to do with Plugins or Applets.

bioDan61597y@dUcKtYpEd wait till you learn a prpductivity oriented programming language like ruby or python.
You will be able to fill in the gap and achieve the same things and even more on a much shorter period of time. -
@dUcKtYpEd it didn’t take me three decades to learn it. I was proficient in it about 3 years after starting. And less than a decade later and I know several frameworks.
-
@dUcKtYpEd it only takes a line or two of PHP to do something like server side rendered content. But if you want to do something the right way (i.e. modern web design), get ready to heap a pile of shit and configuration on top of your PHP project.
Honestly, why would anyone use something that was created specifically for creating server side rendered dynamic content to write modern web apps. That’s what JavaEE is for. And even if I didn’t have JavaEE I would rather use Node.js or Python and a framework before I would use PHP.
Before I used a real web app framework, I used to think PHP was great too. But once I learned Ruby on Rails, Groovy/Grails, JavaEE, Django, and Flask I realized what a frickin’ joke PHP was.
