I got some old piece of shit computer from my cousins, they wanted me to retrieve the old pics on it so I did and now I don't know what to do with it.

I spent the day cleaning years of nasty ass dust off of it and wiped the whole case clean + new thermal paste.

Then I was like why tf am I doing all of this effort, this piece of crap has a single core pentium cpu with a whopping 512 MB of Ram and an 80 GB HDD with the worst cpu cooler mounting systems I have ever seen.

I was thinking of installing something like antix linux with pihole on it but the logical thing to do should be to just get a raspberry pi with has a much smaller form factor, performance and is a lot quieter so idk..

When a computer has a hdd, it's trash in my eyes.

I will look into antix, I have a 2gb mem laptop laying around that I want to donate to church. Can't find right os being able to brose internet decently for such spec.

Distil gold out of its guts. And make purrrtty coasters out of the hdd plates.

@retoor You wouldn't like any of my PCs, then - all have HDDs ;-) .

OT: I'd probably try running Win98SE on it. I've been looking for a decent machine just for that purpose for the 'Retro' factor.

@D-4got10-01 I would use it as a table or chair. Not something computer related. Your xubuntu machine doesn't have a hdd :p in that thing it won't even fit.

@retoor Indeed, that tiny thing doesn't.

But the main PC && an old hand-me-down laptop do.

@D-4got10-01 you have no idea how much i fantasized about exactly that thing, a NUC. But i never had a reason to buy another computer and they were relatively pricii back then. I really wonder, if i would ever go back to a normal PC, with a normal keyboard and a decent screen instead of just a smol laptop. I really like heaving a clean table with only a laptop on it. It looks so clean and good. Also, a laptop on your kitchen table looks just a lot different than a dedicated monitor, keyboard and mouse. When it comes to mouse and touchpad, i really don't care. When it comes to keyboard, I love k120! But my x270 keyboard is the laptop type. I think the laptop one is stronger than a k120. My previous laptop missed 5 keys. RAKKETAKKETAK! :) If i would go for a separate monitor, it would be a big one since i prefer one screen above two but for laptop just one smol one. In the years, people gain a lot of preferences. we become more and more complex :P

@retoor Yeah. Having a desktop comes w/ its own disadvantages && at this point I am running out of space, so I see the allure of smaller form factors like laptops.

If you were to go back to the desktop, then yeah... you'd probably say goodbye to that clean space you currently have. Plus no mobility - obviously way harder to move things around.

Thing is, for me, the main PC has to be a desktop due to the PCI-e slots. I'm kinda screwed there.

I am considering another mini PC, though. But the 2nd one would be more powerful.

    This thing looks kinda nice:

But I'll have to wait a few months for that thing. I have things of higher priority for now.
