if i'm gonna build a toy, like a internet connected teddy bear with a touchscreen in it's belly. What options do I have for the operating system?

    You really should choose the hardware first, then the os, and finally the language/libs you'll use, I think

    @nbamaral i guess some cheap china mediatek ARM. But for a prototype a raspberry pi. It should be always on or at least recover from sleep very quickly.

    (I'm a curious techsavy designer and i can't code)

    Hope you don't plan on selling that in Germany. Has been made illegal since a company made smart teddy bears and followed no security standards whatsoever.

    Some form of embedded Linux or Android, even an old version, but you'll eventually have to code / customize something. Planning on doing all Web?

    @filthyranter haha yeah i've read about it, it's really shocking how little thought into security goes.
    Boss "just get it done". Engineer "fuck it, i'm payed way to less to care. *sends sensitive data over insecure ftp*

    nah it would be for switzerland only, which is not in the eu.

    Ok, i see i have to get to be an expert in hardware first... thank you :)

    @heyheni More like
    *sends unencrypted sensitive data over Bluetooth*
    *sends the same unencrypted sensitive data to own servers as cloud backup via FTP*
    *stores all infos on a publicly viewable database and a publicly viewable AW3 bucket*
