There are a lot of ways to get ideas. One way that has worked for a lot of entrepreneurs is to think of something that you would use. Think of a pain point that you have that you would like to solve.
If it is something that you really need there's a good chance that a lot of other people need it as well.

Or just build things like the nick cage plug in for google chrome that changes all images on any page to random pics of NC

leewillz679yI'm currently working on making my house 'smarter' using things like nodeMCU modules, arduinos and rpis. Currently building a touchscreen thermostat using arduino. These things are useful and you learn new stuff! Win win. leewillz679yI'm currently working on making my house 'smarter' using things like nodeMCU modules, arduinos and rpis. Thought of this at the store today. An app that lets you know what aisle a product is in.
I wander from aisle to aisle staring up at the signs but it's no use, I can't find the damn Ragu...
Anyway, I found a couple apps that tried but they fail miserably. This is a problem waiting to be solved .... and I'm not going to be the one.

 Run with it.

dkomito3109yI'm in the same boat. I think as a developer, time is a major issue. Knowing that any idea would pretty much need to be your only project for the foreseeable future, makes you very gun shy. dkomito3109yI'm in the same boat. I envy the graphic designers that can whip together something exciting in a few days' worth of spare time.

Thinking of a personal project to do is difficult for me 😐
