I've been at work for nearly 4 hours and have gotten barely 1 hour of work done due to my amazingly slow computer. Currently I'm waiting for visual studio to start responding. It'll respond in about 10-15 min... Takes 40 min to boot up my PC and launch my VS solutions.

I tried to press ctrl + alt + delete and it told me "the OS is not responding. Please switch off your computer by pressing the power switch". Well I did.. Now I'm waiting another 30+ min for it to get to the logon Windows screen 🙄🙄

That is the worst. How long does your rebuild take?
  • 1
The rebuild actually doesn't take that long. Like 3 min tops. It's opening and closing solutions/programs and SSMS that takes sooo long. My company ordered me a new computer. Should be here in a few weeks.

Yeah my rebuild is about 4-5 mins, it's absolutely the worst.

Did you try tweaking the p-ram?

@BarryMara - I'm on a Windows, I've cleared unused ram, but I haven't we tweaked the pram. I have 8gb of ram and i5 2.50ghz. I also am using 4gb of ready boost cuz I'm desperate

I feel your pain, as I was in charge of buying my Dev machine I bought a dell m4800 laptop with an i7 and 32gb ram with ssd runs sweetly.

I do also manage vm creation for the rest of the team and the business.

    SSD for the win!

    SSD makes all the difference

Upgrade or get a new machine. Your company should understand it makes financial and customer satisfaction sense. You should not be sitting around so long waiting.

@Jumpshot44 they are working on it. I've been waiting 4 weeks for it. The speed things move around here is glacial...:

Windows updates for me today, that always slows things down.
