My LG WineSmart just became a very stupid, uselesss piece of shit. Firstly, it decided to upgrade itself - in the middle of a phone call! So, the phone itself considered its crappy upgrade more important than my phone call that was abruptly interrupted by the upgrade! WTF!? LG, seriously? Secondly, ever since the upgrade, the so called "Priority Mode" is totally broken. It's supposed to buzz only on phone calls from favourites, i.e. the mum of children and only her, but now it lets all calls through, so any idiot can call and disturb at any time! This phone doesn't have a silent mode neither, so now it has to be switched off at all times, except when I really need to use it, actually making the phone almost completely useless. LG, what utter stupid crap have you created?! What's your thoughts behind this, if any?

Ew, why are you still using stock firmware?

@monr0e Because I don't have the time nor interest in tinkering with my mobile phone. I just want it to work.

@Crapple I didn't have much choice as LG is the only make with a clam shell Smart phone with buttons, at least in my market.

@TerriToniAX Oh I forgot, there's also Doro but that's crap for real.

In my opinion, you cannot expect a consistently positive experience when you rely on the manufacturer of the phone to make your software decisions too. There's simply too many parties involved with the production of Android.

It shouldn't ever really take more than an hour or two to unlock and flash a new recovery & OS.

@monr0e Good point, but the one hour or two only applies if you know exactly what firmware you need/want. And there's always the worry of breaking something. Would, for example, any other firmware than LG's specific one for WineSmart support a keypad? (touchscreens are useless to me). Also, keep in mind that we are devs and perhaps a little more techy than the average user. My point is that users shouldn't need to bother about unlocking and flashing their device...that's simply too much DIY. A consumer device such as a phone should just work at least OK out of the box.

@TerriToniAX for most people, their phones do work reasonably well oob.

Also, the physical keyboard will simply be a standard hardware keyboard. Shouldn't be a problem.
