Demolishun3631940dFucking OCD. When I put my laptop away I got to check if lappy and power supply are in one place. I also got to check if mouse and headphones are in another place. Sometimes I check a few times each. Same way with some door knobs. I realize I am doing, hate it, and trying to learn not to do it so much.

Lensflare1875439dI didn’t even know that there is a refresh button in the right click menu of the Windows desktop.
Shouldn’t the desktop be up to date automatically at any time?
Why is there a button?
Is that a placebo button?
Windows… -
Hazarth962139dI used to click that button every once and then on windows XP. I don't remember why though. I think it sometimes fixed some icons drawing weird or something, but maybe I just liked to know that the desktop is responding and drawn correctly. I legit can't remember

BobbyTables503039dI bet it is an Indian thing. I only know one person that does that incessantly.

Lensflare1875438d@SoldierOfCode obvious question: why?
The guy I know said it‘s because he is afraid that one time will not work so he does it multiple times to be sure that it worked. He is aware that it makes no sense and it‘s kind of an OCD thing.
Is it the same for you? -
SidTheITGuy981438d@Lensflare it's not an OCD thing, it's more like a muscle memory u develop over time.
I've been in situations where I thought the file was saved due to my finger hitting the key weird, and then me pulling out my hair later to only realize my mistake. -
@Lensflare Simple? If you use keyboard shortcuts of any kind you must've encountered situations where you press a key and for one reason or another the thing just doesn't happen(Weird angle, weak press, too fast, PC just happened to hickup on that moment, etc), so you press it again. Except with saving you don't get a visual/auditory confirmation that you did indeed save, so you press multiple times in case it didn't save.

Demolishun3631938dSo I am using an online doc editor at work. If you press ctrl-s it displays a message about how it saves for you. Each time the message is a bit different (I think like 3 or 4 message texts). I keep waiting for it to lose it and say "YOU DON"T NEED TO FUCKING PRESS CTRL-S RETARD!" lol
I once saw an accountant (might be > 60 years old), open up his Windows laptop. And on the home screen he right clicked and hit "Refresh" like 30 times, manually.
I don't know why but I think about that every once in a while.
