    Mac is the silent backstabber when it comes to updates 😂

    blurry face reveal!!

    @Alice it's not as reflective in person, it's strange!

    @gitreflog I may do a face reveal one day, maybe when hell freezes over and Intel and AMD work together...

    Fuck...

    13 minutes? With Windows it is always fingers crossing that it will not fail and you have to retry, and then it fails again. So you start troubleshooting for 1 hour and restart the update and it fails again, so you decide to just clean install Windows again, do all the updates and all is good again.. #happensWeekly #ITSupport

    @ArchLinux
    Well windows let's you do that too, and my updates work fine and update in less than three mins... This post is proof of Mac not working well 😂

    I have had issues with windows updates on older hardware however, Linux ftw!

    @Alice You always talk about reflective screens. What do you use? Just curious.

    @ArchLinux
    Oop, that's strange. Window is notorious for that I guess 😪

    Mac updates have always been absolutely painless for me. 13 minutes, perfect time for a couple of vodka shots and some personal reflection.

    Look at Mr. Rich and Fancy with an extra 3 hours to spare everyday for OS maintenance and repair. @hugh-mungus

    @intromatt this was 13 minutes to finish installing, it's took 30 minutes prior to actually install to the SSD

    How old is your Mac. I have an old MacBook and these updates used to never takes this long. @lxmcf

    @intromatt late 2009, it's old but shouldn't take that long :-/
  • 0
    2009, yes...that's how long it would take because that's essentially a museum piece by now.

    @intromatt I've seen an earlier model update faster though, I know mines a bit old but she still runs smooth... Until you need to update

    My restaurant is running a POS system on Windows 98. It runs in a DOS window and you can't use the mouse.

    The receipts print onto a Microline dot matrix printer and they backup onto a 3.5 inch floppy. Machine is dirty and grimy but it works. @lxmcf

    I have a 4 year old MacBook and it's definitely getting long in the tooth. My wife's new Intel NUC machine feels like it's 50 years from the future comparatively. @lxmcf

    @intromatt well I traded a 2016 windows laptop for this MacBook because I needed a Mac and was not willing to drop over $1800 AUD to buy one, this runs perfectly fine and is honestly not slow at all even with the core 2 duo

    I can't even imagine how slow this thing is.. I had a Core2Duo MacBook many years ago when I still lived in Canada. It was one of the white ones with the crappy screen.

    I don't understand how you would think such a machine is still useable for anything other than basic tasks....but that's none of my business... @lxmcf

    @intromatt it legit works perfectly fine, it isn't blazing fast but im able to compile my projects, watch YouTube and listen to music so I'm happy.

    The battery is the worst part but I think I'll live with it, not worth replacing at this point

    If you scour the Internet you should be able to find a battery rather cheaply for your machine. I bought a battery for my 4 year old Mac just a few months ago on Amazon for £60 (it's one of the built in units) followed a YouTube video and it was super easy. Your machine would be a piece of cake, of course. Highly recommend it, I'm easily getting double-time now. Probably in my head but replacing the battery almost made the machine run quicker for some reason.

    @intromatt *X-Files music begins playing instead of Mac boot up sound after battery replacement*

    @Bython I have literally never had a Windows update fail in me.

    @DuckyMcDuckFace neither have I, it's just the time they take and how intrusive they are that I think people really hate

    @DuckyMcDuckFace Well.. the latest update is a real pain. Always keep popping up and installing Windows update assistent, every time, continuously pushing the update, but fails every darn time..

    This is not the first case I've had to deal with, since version 1709 , a lot of our clients call our helpdesk because the update keeps failing. I've counted 7 so far. All business devices. And the worst is some of them have the issue that their pc isn't running smoothly and the update keeps trying to install. If this keeps on happening I will have to contact Microsoft.

    Maybe it's a language issue, that only happens in some countries. Just a guess.

    Why can't the error messages be more meaningful? Like, this proces is keeping the update from installing or something like that!
