One thing that really bothers me is that people use use megabyte to mean mebibyte. What makes it even worse is that Windows does it too. It says it shows gigabyte but actually shows gibibyte.

Now imagined my frustration when I saw this D:

What are bibytes? ;) You probably mean bits. 1 byte = 8 bits.

"The mebibyte is a multiple of the unit byte for digital information.[1] The binary prefix mebimeans 220, therefore one mebibyte is equal to 1048576bytes = 1024 kibibytes. The unit symbol for the mebibyte is MiB. "

@Lyguion cool, didn't know and should have googled :)

@FrodoSwaggins you sure you read the rant? It clearly shows that in Windows 1MB = 1024KB

@FrodoSwaggins "thing is wrong because i think thing is wrong"

M8, this is why MiB and GiB exists, to avoid confusion with the metric system

    2 MiB:

@FrodoSwaggins why are you even repeating same shit... I'm referring to the part where you state you don't use Windows because in Windows 1MB = 1000KB, which clearly is not true.

@FrodoSwaggins dude, I think you need to stop taking it so personally

@FrodoSwaggins you sure you even understand what you write?
"1000 kB => 1 MB is wrong and always has been in my book and it’s one of the reasons I don’t use Windows.". Show me where you make the statement about windows being inconsistent.
Also talking about you liking consistency why do you use 1KILObyte as 1024 bytes when KILO literally means thousand and all other KILO metrics mean thousand of units and bytes is the only one who used it as 1024. Consistency...

@FrodoSwaggins I'm not saying 1000bytes is a useful number, I'm just talking about your windows flaming statement based on an argument which is the opposite of reality. 1024bytes of course is more useful than 1000bytes, but that doesn't mean it should be used as kilobyte, it's not a fucking thousand, it's thousand plus 24, so don't use kilo there...

@FrodoSwaggins can't tell if troll or management.

@FrodoSwaggins it's not about literal meaning, I just mentioned it for fun. It's about following the standard. Kilo is for thousand multiplier (10^3), so why the fuck would you use it for something that is not a thousand(2^10)?

@FrodoSwaggins i dunno. He seems to be the one who cares about things making sense, rather than you who keep clinging on to something that makes no sense.

    You both care
