Good evening DevRant!

Any ideas on what can I do with my spare Raspberry Pi 3?

Thanks!

@irene no good, i tried and got a bunch of "cant keep up" in the console. That results in slight lags which are bearable. Still, there should be better things you can use a pi for.

    Pihole

@Alice i agree with irene, vanilla minecraft is playable imo. And if there are optimized servers then it should be possible to create fluent gameplay for ~3 players

    I second pihole.

@irene can you give quick rundown on how to use multiple tor instances? I'm interested.

I use mine for a pihole and pivpn

@irene to be able to access local resources which I have running from outside my network :p

@irene to circumvent some restrictions when connected to a network anywhere else (public wifi, phone carriers, university, etc).

    Give it to me.

Use as either pihole or a VPN server

Take it apart and sett the parts on Ali Express.

Based on my mood this morning, and my general misanthropy I'd say make it into a lawn monitoring device to tell people (kids in particular) to get off your fucking lawn!

Or you know... a media center or something, I don't know.

I'm using a RPi 3 as web server Apache+MariaDB and using it as a personal cloud. I keep it running 24/7 and works very well.

    a) Run Discord bots
    b) Host an NGINX server
I'm doing both of these simultaneously

@LuxARTS was thinking of doing that with either next cloud or own cloud, but I also have an actual NAS, so that kinda makes that idea redundant imo

@ScribeOfGoD I've got ftp server too but it's easier to access from web browser than a ftp client because i dont have to install anything. Plus, I can access outside LAN, like a VPN (which I've got too for security purposes)

@LuxARTS it is safer to use SSH and handle files through SFTP, than a plain old FTP server (tl;dr: if you have SSH on the Pi, which you probaboy have, you already have an SFTP server)

@aritzh When I said FTP I was meaning SFTP. Thanks for correction.

@LuxARTS I have a WD mycloud pr4100, so it's got pretty much everything lol

    Set up a RADIUS server.
Boring, but somewhat increases your network security.

Build a retro gaming machine. All original controllers too haha

    Home automation!

    1) Webserver
    2) MySQL
    3) Discord Bots
    4) Nextcloud
    5) PiHole

You can do that all simultaneously on the RPi 3.
