rozzzly16718yits so cool that because we're developers@dfox can tell us what actually went on because we can understand it.
I find that much more satisfactory then, "The website is broken, we are working on it." -
Ugh, Firebase... Google really fucked up with that. It never really works like you expect it to do, and then you end up with hours and hours of debugging
-
dfox428268y@EpIcInCoGnItO are you looking on a rant that has an image by tapping the share icon in the top right of the rant? (The one next to the ...)
-
@dfox You do know that clicking on a notification doesn't take us to the rant right? it just brings us to the feed. Need deep linking.
-
@EpIcInCoGnItO when the app is on the background it does link you to the post. When the app is on the foreground when the notification appears, it doesn't link
-
@justinkruit Yes I get it but the effect of notifications are less because of this not being in the app. we need it
-
dfox428268y@EpIcInCoGnItO unfortunately there's a Titanium-related issue that makes it impossible for us to consistently deep link from notifications on Android right now. The best we can do is have it open the rant pertaining to the last notification you received. I know it sounds insane, but we can't actually detect when you've tapped from a notif on Android/get the data from the specific notif you tapped on.
-
@dfox and is this feature settled on iOS ? Now I get why the notification behaves okay at time and then not.
any chance we may be able to have this fixed in future? -
if you look at the per click usage, the search icon in the app needs to be shuffled with the notification icon in the navbar. Would save most of us lots of time @dfox
one less touch. -
dfox428268y@EpIcInCoGnItO yes, it works perfectly on iOS and we're extremely eager to fix notifications on Android but we're waiting for Titanium to fix the issue.
If you're interested, you can see more details (and our frustration) in this ticket: https://jira.appcelerator.org/brows... -
@dfox Cool. Will keep a tab on this. You should really think about the UI tip. the notification bar inside Nav doesn't make sense to many. It should be shuffled with search.
just a suggestion. headache tapping 3 time to check content. -
dfox428268y@EpIcInCoGnItO no, I specifically linked to the ticket so you can track the status yourself. Like I already said, we can't fix deep linking in notifications (until we switch off Titanium) until they fix that bug. They claim September for completion, but we'll see.
-
dfox428268y@EpIcInCoGnItO unfortunately they applied the change on the 6.0 branch which requires a number of modules we use to be upgraded in order for us to use it :/
-
@dfox Yes already guessed it. This is impressive. Like the last flaw being fixed.

Came back here after a couple of years.

tommy15Right now someone at Google is coding something useless for us to laugh at on April Fools.
Hey everyone - I just wanted to update our Android users on the push notification crash that has been occurring.
The good news is the issue should be fixed in the update I just pushed out (should be available in the Google Play Store within a few hours). We apologize for the crashes and thank everyone for their patience.
I'm still looking in to what actually happened here. Our GCM library hasn't been updated in a while and all of a sudden a specific case started failing. I'll continue to look in to how that seemingly happened with no changes in the app. Some other users of the library started experiencing the same issue.
