Recruiters are full of shit. Stay put if you like it but ask for a pay rise. Never be ashamed or scared of asking for more money. If they value you they will at least give you some options. If they play the loyalty card, tell them it works both ways.

j0nas338yI'm not sure how the culture works where you live, but at least here in Norway there's nothing wrong with going through the entire interview process to find out what your options are, and then if you get a contract with a better job offer, you can present that to your current employer as a testament to the fact that you're worth more than what they're currently offering, and ask for a raise.

palecio11638yOh, the eternal struggle... I'm still VERY single so I value more the atmosphere, freedom, and friendship at work. But I have considered jobs where I'm being offered twice as much (they're always tempting). Maybe if I had a family I would have taken them. For now it's all party and travel and doing whatever the fuck I want...

Those weeks when you get calls from recruiters offering you up to four times your current salary.
I enjoy my job, love the atmosphere, team spirit, freedom (although sometimes there's a bit too much of this!), but I have a family and am saving to extend our house.
I don't want to let my team down, I'm the only programmer dev in a team of 3 (others do front end web design but not much JS), but sometimes I wonder if I should pursue one of these better offers...
