for Java development definitely Intellij IDEA

Sublime Text + command line + Visual Studio

emacs

Sublime with anaconda for Python

I mainly use vscode for smaller projects and hobby projects, visual studio for most projects at work, jupyter for data analysis and sublime text when I want to quickly edit something. Plus vim for editing remote through terminal.

@Sakuyu sublime text costs to use but you can use the free version with a nagscreen forever

I have not used them all but Visual Studio is fine.

for which environment? VS is pretty powerful though.

JetBrains IDEs are awesome. Better yet I get them for free because I'm a student

I use PyCharm(Jetbrains) and Atom. Pycharm is really powerful and awesome. Right from debugging to git integration, docker support , running unit tests all with a mouse click.
