Orionss28977yI guess your phone has the "dash charge" shit. My Nexus 5X has it too and I feel always surprised how it is fast to go to 50% but how slow it is to go to 100% 😅

@EmptyStack @romangraef @Orionss @LastDigitOfPi
No, it's a regular charger, and I don't have dash charging. I put it on airplane mode in case my parents wanted to look through my phone. I think that's why it charged so fast. -
Orionss28977y@Michelle this idea is brilliant, I'll use it for my friends who have intrusive parents, thx!
-
@Michelle Yes, putting a cell phone in airplane mode will boost up charging speed as it'll turn off all the wireless radio activities in it.
-
@Condor
Wow, how did you get the courage to use a charger with 4 amps? I think 2 amps would be sufficient enough to charge it quick without damaging too much.
You don't need such high ones, it charges quick enough with airplane mode. -
@EmptyStack
I already know that it disables wireless radio activity, but it didn't occur to me that it would charge that quick.
I always keep it on airplane mode when I'm sleeping, so I usually don't notice the charge. -
@Orionss
I also turn on maximum power saving mode on my samsung, because my parent's won't be able to see anything.
It only shows a few apps on the home screen, just the important ones, and you can't view the menu.
When I do this, my mom doesn't snoop around too much because she thinks there isn't much to check.
But if she turns off max power saving mode then shell realize I've been hiding my stuff from her amd then she'll kill me. :/ -
@Michelle Its a good practice of putting your cell phone in airplane mode while you sleep. It will not have a bad effect on your health even if you keep it close to you.

@EmptyStack
Sometimes it is, but because of google doc's offline mode, I cam't stay away for too long. I'm not addicted to my phone, I just really like to work on google docs. -
@XiovV
Because they'll know. I'd rather not underestimate my parents without being entirely sure of the features they are aware of. -
Kimmax111067y@Condor oneplus outsourced many things into the charger itself, therefore the phone heats up almost nothing, even when charging while using. Downside is, that it only works with the charger and cable.
Stills supports normal Quickcharge from Qualcomm tho -
620hun83707y@Michelle the Amperage is always the maximum the charger can output. If you plug a 2A phone into a 3A charger, it'll only drain 2A. Similarly, plugging a 3A phone into a 1A charger would drain 1A.
-
Kimmax111067y@Condor well, I have one at home that I use daily. I can't measure the voltage tho, the phone detects and "communicates" with the charger to enable dash charging. However - as far as I know - the difference between Quickcharge and Dash is that Quickcharge uses a higher voltage to load faster while Dash charge pumps much more current. Therefore it needs thicker power lines in the usb cable to be safe to use. As far as I know about the outsourced parts, QC has the voltage regulating parts (these are that heat up, the battery not that significant) in the phone, 1+ pu these into the charger and added additional parts in the phone to make ordinary usb and charging possible (I think they support QC too, but I might be wrong with that)

@Condor my teacher would kill me if I would show him such a circuit. Don't get me wrong. It's OK. It's just not properly soldered and organised.
10 minutes ago my phone was at 20%.
I stopped working on it, and plugged in the charger. I read a book for no longer than 10 minutes, and checked to see how much charge it has.
It was at 52% holy shit.
