IPython is the epitome of the new and shiny. IPython, jupyter, lab, hub, server, galaxy. I think they're all different iterations of "UI around python repl".

And I love new and shiny.

Just ignore how much it facilitates terrible coding style.

@atheist I feel like we're regressing back to the 90s in some terrible aspect which I can't put words to.

I'm not sure if what amounts to an IDE being integrated with a language is a good idea or a bad idea.

A thousand years in the future, their equivalent of Data will be asked a question and he'll be like "hold on, I'm downloading a juypter notebook into my brain right now to calculate the result and answer your question", and then a minute later he'll open his mouth so wide he'll unhinge his jaw like a snake, with "depreciation warnings" and broken repository errors suddenly spewing from his unmoving mouth like barely comprehensible dialup line noise screeching from the abyss at the volume of a megaphone.

Then you'll get a sudden jetbrains or anaconda advert taking over your holodeck, after the great microtransaction malwarization open-source wars of 2371.

In the grimdark future there is only ebegging lootbox updates and war.

@Wisecrack they're basically already instructing gpt to generate code to answer questions, like basic math or counting letters in words
