Why does open source software has to look like shit? Is it part of the FOSS manifest? I'm looking at you eclipse, eclipse dark theme, keepass, ...

@torvim If it ships with a own browser, it usually looks nice 😂 but yeah this is OSS I enjoy the rest is real eye cancer

@Torbuntu the function and customizability is definitely nice, but I often customize stuff to fit my needs and also to fit visually in my environment also in terms of user experience. Usability is a big topic I would call vim and stuff usable if you spend time others wouldn't call it usable at all. Some looks haven't changed since day one, twenty years ago and people use it on a daily basis

I actually think Eclipse looks great :P but I certainly agree that the general looks of many systems could be improved.

Another factor might be, designers are actually a bit different from us developers. Creation is their life. And they don't actually fond of giving away that creation freely or something. And most of all they definitely don't like other guys doing modifications to their creation.

I know web designers are also developers but still they have design sense and their inner designer self might be stopping them from giving or sharing their creation to the world freely.

// Designers, this is just my wild guess factor. Don't need to get too seriously offended. 😁
