Been thinking about if I want voice acting in my games. Potentially it would be really expensive. So I wondered if there was AI libraries for training your own voices. There are a few and some even are trying to do it realtime. Or at least fast enough for web site use.

I find this library:
https://github.com/coqui-ai/TTS

Looks interesting, but I need training data. I found that you can license a limited number of words from voice actors. The licensing doesn't seem to care if how you use the data as long as it stays inside your production (video, game, etc). There are even some free ones out there. I think it might be kinda fun to learn how to do this.

Yes, there are a bunch of AI websites, but the voices almost always seem conversational. Not voices in a game setting. Most of those are stupid subscription bullshit. I also looked at text to speech and most of those are subscription. I really really hate the SaaS business model. I avoid companies that use it as much as I can.

Just voice clone Morgan Freeman as a narrator and Bruce Willis as a protagonist then add autotune to it lol. Look at those that have emotions and you can add your own voice to it like bark https://github.com/suno-ai/bark there are couple of more.

I don’t know how it’s gonna work out if the recording quality is not consistent though. But the finals seems to be doing well with their ai broadcaster

@SidTheITGuy I tried playing with a python library to make voice files. It was weirdly inconsistent. It was running super slow too. I couldn't get it to use my gpu right away. Then I noticed how some of it sounded terrible. So I thought I would try a ai solution online. Not only do I get selection of lots of voices, but I can adjust them and it takes seconds to generate short phrases. Some of the voices they provider are really good too. And it learns a voice with 1 minute of audio. Anyway, so I am playing with the SaaS shit for a while. It was $11 for a month to try out the big boy toys I guess. The fast turn around it better than waiting 2 or 3 minutes for 10 words of sound.
