Why does it have to be so hard to watch blu-ray movies on Linux? Either the decryption libraries crash or they freeze the whole system.

I give up, I'm booting Windows now.

You should look into MakeMKV; it'll let you rip the discs and it has a Linux version(in Beta). I haven't used the Linux version yet but I successfully installed it in Centos 7; I'll probably be giving it a try later this week when I get my new NAS finished up.

On Linux it can also work as the decryption library, as it is much better than the open source ones. Unfortunately the whole system would freeze every time it tried to decrypt the main track on the disc. I'm using Arch-Linux for my personal machine, so I should have at least close to the newest version of all libraries. Thanks for the suggestion though!

What I tried were combos of VLC + MakeMKV and VLC + libaacs + libbdplus, neither of which worked for me. Thanks though.

I haven't really tried other players, as it is the decryption libraries which seems to fail. Might try it later, thanks!

@ullebe1 Just got done testing MakeMKV in Linux. Surprisingly it worked without any issues.

    Setup is as follows:
ESXi Host w/ LG BluRay Drive
Centos 7 VM with BluRay Drive passed through to it
Gnome Desktop Installed from Centos YUM Repo
Latest MakeMKV Beta installed per instructions
