I got my wife this one for her Fitbit. https://cnbc.com/2016/03/... what she didn't like about it was being a secondary app and not being part of Fitbit's. She also already drank a lot of water so she didn't get any notifications.
Maybe if there were someway to reward the user for drinking enough. A green light for being on track, or daily points for drinking the correct amount -
@devrocket I have heard about these kind of bottles before but thought a DIY project would be nice. Plus inputs such as given by you could help us adding valuable stuff to offer(apart from what is available currently).
Also my idea was to keep the design as simple as possible so that anyone could build there own in less cost.
Any help would be appreciated. -
@arunabhghosal I was hoping the insight would help. I'm sure it can be improved, look what Facebook did to MySpace lol.
I don't have a lot of collab time but if you need any front end web stuff I can help out. -
@devrocket Thanks . I was thinking of designing hardware, build a prototype which would measure the water content etc. Would need your help with front end once hardware is sorted out
-
@arunabhghosal do you need to measure the contents? could make an attachable scale for any bottle and people who buy bottles can just add the scale to their new bottle. register that it is fresh, get the weight round to correct amount since water and grams are mostly 1 to 1 that way can track almost any type of beverage.... thoughts?
-
@penderis yes this would be the simplest thing..
I was thinking of long procedure of having sensor to measure depth of the water.
I think yours is a better idea.
Will brainstorm more on the architecture. -
@arunabhghosal. you know how you clip bottles to a bicycle that would be a quite simple design it has the bale to weigh, straps for variable thickness bottles and can make it look all hipster with a shoulder sling.
-
@penderis also I want to automate the process of logging the weight/consumption of water to database to give consumption of the whole day, give alerts accordingly etc
-
@arunabhghosal think since we know water is basically 1:1 they might not even have to log a fresh bottle, would say that probably want to log new weight only once 0 is hit for say 5sec and after that it reads weight again then it knows there was a change. not sure how you would handle things where it gets carried in a bag and not upright could just force people to hold the bottle upright for at least one sec after drinking to get the new weight. ... still a simpler minimum viable version than full on sensors.

A force sensor with arduino nano for the hardware.
Drink amount = Prev amount of water - new amount of water
Store the drink amount to database with given time and also check the surrounding temperature to maintain a perfect equation to keep the body hydrated -
@Dacexi it's just a DIY project..why do you think I will force this in your life?
-
Dacexi120367y@arunabhghosal because I don't like the idea of connecting EVERYTHING to the internet. I don't want another device I have to charge every night.

I hate to be rude, but there are many studies proving that people need to drink only a bit of water every day, the main thing being that if you are thirsty, drink water. Anything more is just wasted on you.
