@Alice
Ability to create vacations, ability to nominate a 2nd person to be contacted if you go AWOL,... -
@Alice
You know there's a reason I asked for collabs. Ideas. I'm open to suggestions
Also, if someone kidnaps me, they will send me back or kill me within 24 hours so I'm not worried -
@CoffeeNcode a cock torture device is also a tool but i would rather not use it for anything
-
@norman70688 i actually dont know php, i tried it years ago and it was such a clusterfuck that i couldnt be bothered to learn it
-
@CoffeeNcode cock torture devices have greatly improved since the middle ages and now you dont get tetanus if you use them
Also it wasnt an allegory, i just couldnt think of any other tool i wouldnt use -
@CoffeeNcode
It's still a torturing device. More refined, yes. But still a torturing device -
@CoffeeNcode
Don't talk to me about anything that has Java in its name, specially JS. JS is to programming as a bare rock is to intelligence -
@CoffeeNcode
I wouldn't know. I primarily write in C and Assembly. Script languages look dumb, useless, overtly insecure and unoptimized to me -
francesco36yGood to know you're still alive :D
The project sounds really interesting to me, would love to get involved! Plus, I am comfortable with PHP/WP.
Happy to talk about it ;) -
Maer17826yHow about doing it this way:
Grant a killswitch to N people. If M people, where M <= N, activate the killswitch then you are asked if you are indeed deceased. If you do not answer after X amount of time, which can be specified, activate whatever life-cleanup services you want. The latter don't need to be part of your application.
Seems to me less error prone than assuming death after some amount of time. -
@FuckJava Just wondering, would you consider writing the project in Java instead?
-
@AlmondSauce
Smart question
Business knows no zeal. If this were a business venture, and Java provided obvious benefits, yes -
@FuckJava - I mean no disrespect, but this is the best comment I've read anywhere, on any channel all week.
Personally, I like the idea. I suppose it could use a little refinement and a slick web app. Nothing at all wrong with PHP, just more prone to user (or developer error) than say a more restrictive framework (which I tend to favor for that reason).
Wordpress... It's ok for a blog I guess, and clearly also for making your idea manifest, so well done for actually getting something onto a publicly accessible server.
If I were you, I'd give it some thought, take a few test swings at ideas, but don't take it too seriously. Remember to have fun, when it stops being fun, it is terribly difficult to come back.
I really hope nobody gets abducted or killed, the mood in here got super serious, super quickly. I appreciate there are real dangers, but no website could change that anyway.
Just live your best life, keep learning, keep growing and have fun dammit! :) -
@tekashi PHP7 is as competent as any other established language. Not my weapon of choice, but it will get the job done. Wordpress is the one that makes me cringe a bit, hehe
-
Sounds like unethical thing to do, but I like it 😂 I mean, you'd most probably need very strong security considerations and EULAs if your project grows. And in THAT case you cannot afford random wannabe provider, so careful there and good luck :)
I'm creating the idea explained on http://helstra.net
Anyone interested in joining me?
